My comp specs are in my sig and do you think it is time I upgrade to a new age video card? I have been out of the video card loop and I wouldn't want to spend more than $300 on it. Would I be better off getting a gig of PC4000 and just OCing my 9800?

That brings up another point, my system right now is running at all stock speeds, do you recommend I OC? If I do, what are some good speeds to run a stock ATi 9800 pro at?
 
i would buy that pc4000 with your motherboard and cpu if its a 2.8c or 2.8e u should be able to hit 3.4-3.5 with that pc4000 with descent cooling, i have a 9800pro myself i bought a ATI Silencer and get about 465/380 on my speeds its pretty descent when i had stock i did 435/370, also try to get like a Gb of ram, i know newegg sells Geil Ultra pc4000 for around $275 with some tight timings
 
depending on the games you want to play and how you like how your computer handles them right now. for about $300 you can get a 6800nu which would be considerably faster than the 9800pro. this would yield a much better frame rate increase than getting 1gig of RAM. 1gig of RAM is going to make your system run much smoother and stabley as a whole instead of boosting frame rates. id say forget the videocard right now and save for the RAM for a later time. with pc4000 youll able to get your CPU up to 3.4Ghz easily(as long as you have a good cooling setup). with my system(in sig) i can hit 3.4Ghz but i have to relax my RAM timings to 3,4,4,8 in order for it to boot and run the voltage at 2.75(RAM) and 1.75(vcore). its really up to you depending on what youd rather have. like is said 1gig pc4000= overall system performance/stability and videocard=better fps in games.
 
There is a Nvidia 6800OC at Bestbuy for $300, good deal?

I play games like CoD, CS:S, Far Cry, Warhammer 40k, and of course HL2 on Nov. 16th.

Each upgrade would be about $150 net cost, so either one is ok, I just think it would be easier to sell a 9800 pro than my RAM.
 
ide sell the 9800pro and go with a bad ass card
but im an ati loyalist so i wont tell you what card to pick
 
dunno i ran CS:S before when i had 512ram i got like 52fps i added another 512 im getting around 92 right now on the stress test, but yea a 6800non ultra is a pretty good deal standing at 270-300 dollars, few more months the cards should drop to 250 when the new cycle of cards get out
 
I just got 83 FPS on the CS:S stress test. Now I am leaning toward the RAM because the longer I wait for a video card, the cheaper they will get. I have had the same RAM in my newegg shopping cart for 2 months and just the other day it went from $319 to $298.
