Time for a New Build :D

So I know that similar threads surface quite often but I have some questions that I haven't been able to find the answers to.

I just sold my outdated custom built "gaming rig" (sli'd 7 series, pentium D, etc...) and have some money to build another. With my new computer I don't necessarily need top of the line gaming performance. I would like to be able to run a few of this generations games at decent settings/resolution (1920x1200) but I'm not trying to spend a fortune to future proof it. Gaming is more of an added bonus at this point.

What I really need is something that won't experience any slowdowns with "normal" computing, stuff like cs3 (not so much video editing but photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver..) and the likes.

I've been following components since I built my old computer and am familiar with all the new models/generations in terms of specs, pricing, etc... The thing is I haven't really used any of these components myself so I need a little help.

Now that the i750 is out I'm thinking I should do a build off that but my only tie to it is price point so i would definitely be willing to go with something else.

tl;dr Basically what I'm looking for are good MOBO/CPU/PSU/RAM combos. I have never overclocked before but i'd be willing to give it a shot. As far as the mobo goes I would prefer sli/cossfire simply for future upgrading reasons but this could be compromised if it skyrockets the price. Some recommendations on silent fans would also be appreciated as I have only bought super loud high cfm fans. I can pick out a case and video card on my own but if you feel like recommending one of those as well feel free.

I'm hoping to keep the budget under $900 so maybe $600-$700 w/o case/video card. I'm flexible on price if this is unreasonably low.

I wrote too much so thanks for reading and double thanks for responding :)

Shiro's build looks good. Though, I haven't read any reviews on P55 boards yet, lol.

Did you need a HDD? If so, go for a WD6401AALS or WD6400AAKS if its significantly cheaper.

onless you have 30" monitor and SLi/Crossfire setup. Nope

well I'm gonna have a 28" monitor and plan on going for crossfire down the road.

Also, there wouldn't be any power/compatibility issues with 2 4870's and this set up would there?

650 watt PSU is more than enough for Crossfire 4870s. I still wouldn't suggest getting core i7 920 with 1920x1200 display.
