TIE FIGHTER 2

Would you buy TIE FIGHTER 2 if they made it?

I would, but since Larry Holland kinda stopped the series like 10 years ago I really doubt the series will come back. Plus, Lucasarts seems to be moving away from the PC arena.
 
Tie Fighter never appealed to me. I think the Wing Commander series was far more compelling and interesting.

Especially now that Lucas has thoroughly butchered and destroyed the quality of Star Wars in general, a Tie Fighter 2 is even less interesting.
 
I'd buy Tie Fighter 2 if they made it and it was a game worth my money, yeah.

Well Lucasarts still makes the Rogue Squadron games as well (I guess). I have Rogue Leader on GC and it really doesn't hold a candle to the TIE Fighter / Xwing series.

I don't know if its still up but www.xwaupgrade.com was redoing a lot of the models for Xwing Alliance.
 
I'd buy five copies.

I find myself wishing someone would take the engine from Darkstar One (which doesn't suck that bad actually) and actually put non-stupid missions in it.
 
I would rather see a sequel to X-Wing Alliance. I remember editing the ship text file and destroying my brother with the Super Star Destroyer.:D

Tie Fighter was one of my all time favourite games, i must have played thro that thing so many times.

I dont think they could make a sequel that could live up to my expectations.
 
i would buy it, but only if it included x-wing with a-wing, b-wing, and tiefighter with updated graphics engines

it would be really cool if they included engine enhancements so that you can play each mission from each of the different crafts...

as an a wing, escort the b wings to bomb point a and protect them from low level turrets to point b,
an an x wing excort b-wings to point a, provide cover aginst high level light craft. ensure there escape after the run
as a b wing survive the onslot and compleat the bombing run, escape
as a tie fighter, stop this run at all costs
 
I still have the opinion that Tie Fighter (plus expansions) is the best game ever made, and likely will be for a long time. Everything was just done so perfectly, and it was awesome to be on the side of the bad guys for a change. The whole Secret Order thing was great, and flying a mission with Vader was cool as hell. I've probably played TF (and XWing) more than any other games I've owned.

If ever happen into a few hundred million dollars, there are two things I will require:
1) Freespace 3
2) TF 2 (and/or X-Wing 2)

I wouldn't even care if the only changes made to TF 2 were graphical ones. The missions themselves were great, so I'd be happy with just a full graphical revamp.
 
I made this poll because no matter what forum I am on every time TIE FIGHTER is mentioned people always have awesome things to say about it. I remember when I got it, I think it was 5 diskettes and a boot disk I made on windows 95a. I had a Number 9 128bit 2MB Vram I think it was like $400.00+ back in the day. I played that game so many times it wasn't even funny. If they ever made TF-2 with coop and multi with high rez textures it would sell like hotcakes. IMO

I still remeber crashing my win95b comp trying to get past the stack-over full error in dos CMD prompt. On the TIE Figher CDROM edition
 
Best game ever made. Too bad on the Totally Games forum a former dev said a sequel is pretty much impossible.
 
HELL YES!!!! i played the first one countless hours and got stuck near the end but still loved the game.

i think if they just updated the graphics and allowed for newer joysticks it would sell well as the original game. Id buy it again either way. Xwing alliance was ok. But was not the same.

those were made for console, and played more like the rogue squadron games. But Lucas Arts did make a lot of duds in between the gems. Im looking forward to Force Unleashed even though no pc release for it. It looks so cool that Ill just have to suffer through.

Tie Fighter was a cool game at that time, so good memories

i remember i got to be a General of the Empire with lots of medals. In the end of one mission i was playing around with the command orders and i sent all my wingmen to home, then i selected a nearby Star Destroyer, I also give it the order to go home, and the cool thing was that it actually follow the go home order.
the funny thing was that my Tie didn't have hyperdrive capabilities, so i was stranded there, hehe, i had to replay the mission :p

I don't see why its 'impossible'. So stupid they don't re-release with revamped graphics...its an instant cash cow. Compared to the shit games Lucas is putting out now, they can sure use an infusion in the vault there.
 
^^While we're talking about Lucas' current one trick pony. They seriously need to get back into sims, adventures, and fps. Nobody could ever match their art direction and talent. It's a true shame really, because they made wonderful stuff! I've recently read on another forum that there will be a Lucas arts book coming out in the fall. It supposedly goes over LA history and whatnot...

Yeah I was always wondering about it too.
They had several amazing games from X-wing, Tie-fighter etc and another great series with Jedi Academy and it's predecessors.

And for last few years they had been producing trash like Star wars racer.

Well at least it seems Jedi Academy line has been revived with forve unleashed.

I liked the wing commander series too but I don't think I woud re-visit the Tie fighter series. I did like the secret organization / cult status that you could gain with extra points. I don't even own a joystick anymore and rarely use my xbox 360 wireless controller on my computer.
