Ticking time bomb-MDD

Hey, recently I bought a MDD dual 1ghz and have been noticing that when I set it to sleep, or shut the system down it creates a ticking noise from the PSU that can be very annoying. Is there any way to fix this?
 
i'd start by replacing the power supply. if it is ticking while the machine is off, it's probably on its way out anyway.
