Ti4200 or FX 5200??

Without a doubt the Ti4200. The 5200 is about as fast as a Geforce 4 MX 440 which was a reworked Geforce 2 core and well below the power of the Ti4200.

ahh but the slower 52 plays dx9 games ... not well mind you , but it plays them. ;)
the ti kicks monkey butt no dount, but cannot play dx9 games at all.

Actually in some cases, the FX5200 is slower than the MX440. Which would put it about on par with a GF2, 1999 hardware.

5200 is for grandmas playing solitaire.

Cmon now, its not that bad, I used a 5200U for 3 months and it did the job, though not as well as my 9600pro or x800pro, but it still did the job.

lol sorry to hurt your feelings. as MemoryInAGarden said it's about like a GeForce2 so.....yea.

ti4200.

5200fx are for dumb people who automatically think just cause it is compatible with dx9 makes it able to play games with dx9. and they arent very reliable

The FX5200 128bit version with regular memory is like a GF3 with a bit better core. Think of a FX5200 as a 8500LELE model. But in any case, the GF4 is gonna be quite a bit faster.

wow, you guys actually make me feel good....until i try to play a game at good settings :(

Heh, isn't really for dumb people. It's for the average consumer who doesn't know any better. Sure I look at the n00bs taking their PC to best buy to get RAM installed
for 40 bucks and I laugh but I'm sure a lot of people laugh at me for taking my car in for an oil change.

i started a similar thread no to long ago asking opinions on which would be better .. a 5200Ultra with 128megs ..or a Ti4200 with 64megs ...

..got a resounding "Ti4200"! on that one too

I have the original Gainward 64Mb GeForce3, a Gainward 64Mb GeForce4 Ti4200, and a 64Mb VisionTek Radeon 9100 clocked at 250/250. After spending about three weeks with a 128Mb, 128-bit FX5200, I would take ANY of the aforementioned trio of video cards over the FX5200 in a heartbeat, most especially the Ti4200. While the FX5200 may have all the DX9 bells and whistles, it's totally lacking in enough "horsepower" to effectively make use of any of these features, IMO. It's akin to having a fancy limousine loaded with every amenity, but just a small 4-cylinder engine under the hood to provide the means of pushing it along. It's a card that should have never seen the light of day. The Ti4200 gives superior performance in most any DX9 title, simply substituting DX8 shader effects with little or no real impact on visual appeal.

well call me a lil piece of she-ite, i had no idea the mighty ti was fully dx9 compatible.
i could have sworn the es's or early ones were not for sure. were they always or did that just happen as upgrades to them somewhat recently ? ok switch to single shot instead of machine-gun please :p

How're you clocking your 4200? My 4400 plays (most) newer games without a hitch.
But we're not going to talk about farcry.
I'm not going to comment on the 5200 b/c I've never seen one in use- but every review I've ever read lines up with what's been said here.

people usually DL coolbits from anywhere and load it into registry by double-clicking it.
It allows you to o/c on the fly under Display Property Settings then Advanced tab then go to nvidia tab, look down the tree and you should see temps and overclock bullets.
Powerstrip always works too and gives loads of information about your card. GL
