Ti4200 - "Crashes" during some games

First the specs
GeForce 4 Ti4200
Abit Kx7333R
Athlon Xp 1800+
512 meg pc2100 ram
3 x 80gb + 1 x 10gb Harddrives
330 Watt PSU

I have this problem that used to happen in GTA3. Ill be playing and all of a sudden my monitor might will go from green to yellow (no signal i believe) and my computer will remain on and sometimes it will be looping the last sound effect to play. Im past the GTA3 days and I noticed my computer is doing the same thing in UT2004, running at 800x 600 32 bit color. The thing is, I could just leave my computer sitting at the main menu in UT and it will still happen. I tried different drivers and it didnt seem to help the problem. Anyone know what the deal is?
 
I have the same exact thing with my video card in my sig. (waiting on 9800Pro) I thought it was a heat issue, but it wasn't. I thought it was drivers, I downloaded them and that did nothing. I tried moving back to DirectX8, nothing. I have concluded that maybe my card is defected. But, I'm okay with that because this card was only 50 greenbacks.

As for your card, I recommend taking some of these things that I tried and give them a go yourself. If nothing works, try to RMA your card, or just get a 9800Pro, like me.

it passed all the directx tests, never ran 3dmark. I cant constitute buying a new video card just to play UT2004 though. Im broke and moved away from pc games to the xbox anyways. i just really like this game and playing it with an xbox controller makes it even better.
