TI Connection IP Request Suggestion?

My company is trying to setup a new T1 Connection to the office to replace our DSL connection. According to SBC, They claim that they can provide us as many static IP we requested.

We currently host our server with some web hosting company. However, we do have a backup webserver in our office.

eventually if T1 is enough, we will try to move the live server to the office.

My question is how many static IP should I request?
They need to configure the router ahead of time. If I request more IP in the future they will need to reconfigure the router and that will cost some installation fee.

I also need to specify what the ips are for too.

Your going to have to decide how many hosts need the static IPs. Are there other computers that are going to need tooffer services to the internet (pop, snmp, ftp, vpn, ssh etc..)? This is just a guess but I would say at least 3. One for the router, and one for the web server. Then another one for a firewall that does NAT for the rest of the computers at the office.
 
is it a good idea to combine webserver and a dns server together?
 
The DNS server on the webserver thing is up to you. I run one instance of bind on my web server and one on my mail server. Do I trust bind? Hell no. But I do have it jailed and patched and keep up on it as much as possible. Gotta do with the machines you have and I can't justify two whole machines just for dns.

As far as IP's, if you're getting a whole T1 I'd consider 10-15 the minimum I'd request. Lets say 1 to the router, 1 to a firewall, 2 for two webservers, 1 for a mail server. You're already half way through 10. Maybe you'll want a machine with a public IP for testing something. Add in a remote access server, or dedicated vpn box or something and you'll have them all gone in a hurry.
 
i work for a 12,000+ employee company. we have a class c, but can see needing to bump that up to a 23 bit cidr block. my point is that always get way more than you think you need...
