Thinking about getting a new case. I'd like some style. Anyway I have two questions. First is POWMAX a good quality company. And second what do you think about the looks of this case.

case

My personal opinion is thumbs down.

I really, really hate that front panel pre-mod crap, and the side panel isn't too hot either, but the colored inside and that thing on the top is kinda cool :p

I wish I had more hands, so I can give that case 4 thumbs down "Hahahahaha"

If stock, then down.
I bought the same case, but I'm in the process of modding the whole thing. It won't even look like stock by the time i'm done :)

still down.

LOL

jk

:D

Two thumbs down. Way down.

Powmax is a shitty company. I built a PC for a client and I used a 40.00 Powmax case and it got here and I pulled it out of the shipping box, and the FRONT PANEL FELL OFF. Not only that, but it wasn't even made out of a thick aluminum. My dog would step on it and the case would bend (I have a 5lb dog.).

Also, that case looks like it fell off the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

i guess not, i don't have the best taste is cases so i'll let you decide. I just like the painted interior and extior because i'm not into spraying cases

sorry but IMO those aren't any better. Dude just buy a decent case, maybe an Antec Dragon and do a little modding. Put some work into it and make something that is you. Don't settle for premod. :D

Spend half the money and paint it your self. Take the extra money and buy a dremil.

DOWN

cool,

just try and avoid anything with a face on the front and you should be ight. I know some places sell these aluminum cases that are meant to look almost like a lian li (sp?). You could consider that route as they seem nice enough at 50 bucks.

How do i go about painting the inside, is there a faq out there somewhere. I just buy a can of spray paint and let loose or it's not that easy :)

Get some primer, paint, and sand paper. Apply multiple coats of primer and sand it smooth. Not to smooth. Now apply the paint and sand with fine grit. Then repeat. All the while sanding, painting, drinking, and some more painting. Then your done!!! If you do it, take your time and allow to dry in between multiple thin coats. It took me three coats of primer before I even covered the exposed aluminum. Also, some people think that painting the aluminum will impact it's ability to transfer heat. While there may be some impact, the overall amount is negligible.

Yes a dremel. You won't if you're careful. Just put in some time and practice on one.

sand, prime, repeat( many times)
then paint, sand repeat (many times)
Last coat I just paint on and do NOT sand?

Oh and any kind of spray on paint is good?

Man I am noob

Yeah, i have to agree it does look ugly when it ships. My plan:
  • Take out the blue thing in front. Take out the mouth.
  • Fill in the holes i get using artist's putty. Then prime, and re-paint; so the whole thing looks smooth.
  • Only the glowing eyes remain. Use them as a hard drive activity indicator :D
  • Cut off the metal thing that goes accross the window.
  • Make a new window. Put a hologram circuit decal in the corner
  • Make two blow holes in the window, but some Bonz tribal grills for those, paint them black with gunmetal highlight.
  • Antec PSU... get a semitransparent red lid for it instead of metal
  • Attach a red box to it with shower cord-encased cables going out of it. Pain the shower cords metallic red
  • Some panaflos, including those to replace the stupid blue led fans :D
  • A meteor light, and a sound-activated red CCFL
  • Later (when i have time) re-paint everything that's red into blue. That includes the bit in the front, interior, shower-cords and getting a blue PSU cover instead.
See? You can already imagine it would look not too shabby. Given that i have some M4d skillz with tools and especially, painting, you could expect it done flawlessly (i don't mean to brag). I'm in the process of painting the front panel right now.

If you don't know what i mean by shower-cords, this is where is stole the idea from:

Yep, orac3.

Oh, an i will call my case cyborg, i guess.. Well, wish me luck :)
