ok so from what I have read it sounds like they will be moving forward with the AM3 socket and ddr3 ram. Do we have any clue if current AM3 boards will be able to run these processors? I am asking because I am looking @ my next upgrade path. My Main rig in sig seems to be handling everything just great but, I like to stay ahead of the curve and move my technology before its so out of date that its virtually worthless. I recently sold an old mobo, cpu and fan for $140 so I have that in the "bank" I was considering selling my current mobo and ram "hopefully" for about $150 then moving up to a full AM3 board and some ddr3 ram like ripjaws or somthing.
Should I sit on this and see what happens with Thuban? I am pretty sure I will not see a $200 increase in performance with the AM3 and ddr3 upgrade other than keeping current and moving out the old technology.
Thoughts? Anyone else wondering the same thing?
