Three Monitors on Two Graphics Cards

Hi everyone,

The thread title pretty much explains my question but basically:

I'm currently running on XP 32-bit with an nVidia 260 GTX pci-e card with one CRT monitor.

Can I add a cheap pci-e card to my second pci-e slot on my motherboard and hook up two TFT monitors to the cheap card?

Will this work? Hope so!

Is there any reason you'd want both extra monitors on the 2ndary card instead of putting one on the primary?

No not really.

Would it be best to have two monitors running off my 260 and one off the cheap card?

I suppose that makes sense because the 260 is more powerful!

I just needed to be absolutely sure that this would work before I went and spent a load of money! I think the general lack of replies means that it definately will work lol :).

I've got 4 monitors across my 280 and 8800 GT. The thing to consider when deciding what goes where is graphics intensive items. For example I game on my 30" which is on the 280 but I also sometimes watch movies/tv at the same time on my 24" so I have that one hooked up to the 8800 GT as to not bog down the card with a lot going on at once.

So with three monitors on your best card I would only have the CRT and put the LCDs on the cheap card to not effect gaming.
 
The only thing is that I would recommend using the same company (eg, get an nvidia card if you have nvidia, or ati card if you have ati).
 
I'm running my 30'' monitor with a GTX 280 and then two 24'' monitors that flank the 30'' with a 9400GT. Works out fine.

Here's my reasoning for running the two off the weaker card. I want all the resources of the 280 going to my 30'' and the 9400GT was a capable enough card so I could watch media on the 24 inchers.
