Three 4K External Monitors 60Hz Question

Hey Guys,

First time posting here. Got a problem that I can't seem to figure out (if there is even a solution given my current configuration). I have a Dell Precision 7720 laptop with the following specs:

Intel Core i7-7820HQ CPU @2.90Ghz
32GB RAM
Nvidia Quadro P3000
Windows 10

I want to connect 3 4K Monitors (Dell U2718Q) to the laptop and have them all running at 60hz if possible (30 isn't really workable).

I currently have a Dell Thunderbolt Dock MLK with 240W Adapter. This adapter has a Display Port, Mini Display Port, and HDMI. When all the monitors are plugged directly into the Dock the best senario is that all monitors can display at 4K, but two of them run at 30hz.

Then, based on a recommendation, I went out and purchased a USB 3.0 to DP 4K Display Adapter
https://www.amazon.com/Vantec-USB-DisplayPort-Adapter-NBV-410DU3/dp/B01BVX87ZE

With this plugged into the USB 3.0 port on the dock and so two monitors plugged directly into the dock and the third plugged into the adapter (all using either DP or MDP) I now get two monitors at 4K and 60hz and just the third is 4K at 30hz. So better but still not what I need.

And it should be noted that the third monitor which is the 30hz one is the one that is plugged into the adapter. It also seems that no matter what resolution I make the monitor connected to the adapter, the refresh rate is always 30hz. I only seemed to be able to get 60hz if I lowered the resolution way down to something like 640 x 480.

I was also recommended to purchase the following, but to be honest I'd prefer to connect via a Display Port, not HDMI. Although if HDMI is my only option I am okay with that.
For example, our USB 3.0 Dual 4K HDMI adapter (USB3-6950-HDMI -> https://plugable.com/products/usb3-6950-hdmi/) can connect to one of the USB 3.0 ports in the Dell Thunderbolt dock and will allow you to add up to two additional 4K HDMI displays. A quick note, our DisplayLink adapters do not support HDR content like your Dell monitors do.

Bottom line, I am really hoping someone can enlighten me with a solution to connect all 3 external monitors and have them all running at 4K 60hz.

FYI, the laptop remains closed so that monitor doesn't factor into this at all.

Thanks!

Why are you not using any of the other ports directly on the laptop itself? I am pretty sure it has a Mini display port, thunderbolt port and a HDMI port.

Chances are you're using up too much bandwidth from trying to squeeze all that into a single thunderbolt port.

Try plugging the monitors directly into the ports on the laptop itself.

I have tried that and there is no signal when the monitors are plugged directly into the laptops HDMI or mini DP.

They may be powered from the intel gpu. Make sure its enabled.

Why would you? You're just displaying an image.

Look in your bios first.
