Threads on heatsink messed up

hello all.
im trying to install a zalman vf700-cu on my ati x800 card.
the problem is that i noticed the threads on the screw on the heatsink, are pretty much hammered.
is there an easy way to unscrew this thing?
i cant get a grip of the screws using anything.
i paid 45 bucks for this hs and it would be a shame not to use it

any help appreciated
