I noticed now on two separate computers that after i check new posts on a subscribed thread, the UserCP and thread titles in the forum are not being updated to reflect that i have read the most recent post. So it appears that all my threads have unread posts.

I tried the "Drill" and it fixes it temporarily, but it comes back.
