Thoughts on this heatsink?

What speed chip? Are you overclocking?

Those fans have a sort of buzz-humm-whine going on.

Heatsink is ok for light duty.

for a 2.6c

I would test, but I do not have a chip to test right now.

no overclocking, I just want a decent temp.

unless someone is going to sell me one for 20, its not in my price range

I had the Vantec Aeroflow (looks just like that, except for a different air-slit layout and it has a copper core) and it worked great. Got it for $24.99 at the local Fry's.

thats what I was sorta thinking, but i havent found a review on the heatsink yet, only did a quick google scan.

only reason I was considering this one is that I can get it for 10 bucks.

Well, see, the trick here is that your budget is a mere $20 and you want something that cools well while being quiet at the same time...

Considering your budget, you may want to look into something like this HSF. It's about $15 and, according to this review on SilentPC Review, it isn't such a bad HSF. They tested it on a 2.8GHz P4 later in the review and it hit a load temp of 55C... So, it isn't the greatest HSF but it is very quiet and pretty cheap. (I haven't had a chance to use one, though)

If your budget were larger, I would recommend the Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu because it does a better job cooling the CPU and it is still pretty quiet.

I have the aeroflow also. Don't have the fan speed turned all the way up though because it keeps my cpu plenty cool at 65% speed.

the tmd fan does give off more vibration though (which in turn = noise)...so some damping material between it and the heatsink would be a good idea (I cut up an old mouse pad - worked great!)

Check my rig.......i just removed the same exact heatsink as your pics shows........easily replaced it with a thermalright sp94....im waiting for an asus mobo...just testing it for now......
