I'm going to be purchasing this video card in a day or so, and i'm just looking for second thoughts.

such as overlockability
performance

all that nice stuff.

Thanks a bundle

Get a 9800 Pro 128mb instead.

Don't get a 9600XT.

Yes the 9800 Pro costs a little more but I think it's a better value.

You can get a 9800 Pro for $230 (USD) or less now.

Well cost is the issue here, i just want a card that performs well for the right price, i know the 9800 pro kicks ass, but its out of my budget

and ontop of that i'm getting the 9600xt for 180$ us shippied, so thats a pretty good deal. its used, but only 2 weeks. the hl2 vochure card is unscratched nad everything.

Is that for a built by ATI card?

Here's one built by Transcend for $149 retail, don't know if that's a good brand:

Check out newegg's pricing on the cards your interested in, they're one of the best places to deal with.

Well, I still say a cheap 9800 Pro is still the way to go.

The 9600XT just dosn't seem like a good deal.

Have you tried looking for a used 9700pro?

Also, when's the R420 supposed to be out, won't that effect the pricing?

I've got a Sapphire 9600xt. Personally I like the card just fine. Plays all my games at 1280x1024 2xaa 16xaf with details. Bought it about 1.5 months ago when my ol' GF2 GTS died. I paid $147 shipped from z-buy.com

I think if you're going to spend more than $150's for a 9600xt, then you should take a look at other cards close to that range. The 9600xt is a good card, but there's always going to be the argument of "for a little more you can get a xxxxx". If you don't have or are willing to shell out the little more (which by the way goes all the way up to the 5950u/9800xt's)...then set your limit and stick to it.

however, if you're going to spend in the $180's, seriously look at a 5900nu/xt. they are better than the 9600xt (except for ps2 ops), but not as good as a 9800pro.

holy shiznit, i just did the currency conversion on the 9800 pro by sapphire and its only 40$ cdn shipped more than what i was going to pay for the 9600xt. Looks like i'm getting a 9800Pro now. Thanks for that link man, i will probablly order this tonight

Wil lthe OEM version come with any software/cords/drivers? or is it just the bare card and the card alone?>

Also does Sapphire make a good video card?

Heres the link to the card once again:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-268&depa=0&section=3

Also i wont see too much of a performance decrease by using AGP 4X will i, my motherboard only supports up to AGP 4X.

Click on your link and then click on the cards image on the left. You then get 3 images with the 3rd showing what's included. Looks like you get PowerDVD, several connectors, even an adapter for the dvi port, and a driver CD.

Don't know much about that brand sapphire, but the 150+ user opinions there should give you a good idea. Just click on the 5 star rating image at that link again and you'll be taken to them.

Oh, and there should be no difference with 4x at all.

oh ffs, great just great, newegg doesent ship to canada.

WELL THAT JUST RUINED MY DAY!

Hopefully you can find another place that carries that card, and that will ship it to you. Maybe check Ebay.

$180 is a little much to pay for a 9600xt imho..... I just bought a gigabyte 9600xt for $152 w/ shipping with the 2.8ns ram...

Sapphire is who actually makes the "By ATI" Video cards. They are one of the best "Powered by ATI" cards there is, there definatly a trustworthy brand.

what a kick in the nuts, i'm getting my card tommorow and its going to cost 360$ shipped (canadian funds) and it comes with less, just the bare card.)

Pretty mad about all this, sucks serious ass having to pay 80$ more for the exact same thing except having no extras (like the DVI cable converter, the Svideo out cable, power dvd and all that)

You don't have any family and friends you can trust in the U.S. that could ship it to you after recieving it from newegg?

well i do know one guy but he is not online right now (go figure eh lol)

I'm going to be ordering this card tommorow no matter what, as i need it before my lan party which is comming up this friday. If hes online i'll try to hammer out some details with him, and see if its possible.
