I'm looking at getting a LCD for every day surfing and also plan on gaming with it quiet often as well.

Was wondering is you guys have had any experience with this monitor. Any ghosting, or any problems with the shiny plastic reflecting things in a normal enviroment(room with blinds). We have the monitor at my work but the glare is terrible, but then again we have tons of lights in the building right overhead, which isn't the case in your bedroom, so just wondering if you guys have had any problems with that.

Good, Bad...or ________?

And what is the word on hydis panels, are they still the overall top or were they ever? Just heard they were great, so here i am inquiring.

I saw the NEC 1765 running MS Flight Sim 2004 at CompUSA. I played for a few minutes. The monitor was very vibrant, and I saw no Ghosting. However, please keep in mind that the screen was displaying the cockpit of a Cessna, with slow moving scenery. I did notice a slight glare due to the plastic cover on the panel. I also found out that the LCD only has an Analog input. I was not able to look at text on this screen.

CompUSA currently lists this display at $569.99 - at this price point, I would definitely get a Samsung 710T.

Hope this helps - Good Luck.

We have Samsungs at work as well, and i don't see the value in them the NEC has a better overall picture. The samsungs look dull to me.

it's good to hear that it didn't have any ghosting when you played around with it.

Is it the 710Ts that you have at work? I've looked at older model Samsungs and IMHO the 710Ts outclass the previous models...

At any rate - Good Luck in your search.

My girl bought this monitor a few weeks ago and she loves it. BUT, she's not a gamer and she's coming off a laptop screen. I have spent some time on the monitor and I can't say anything bad about it yet, but I haven't loaded any games on it... yet. Haven't experienced glare and the monitor faces the window.

I went shopping for an LCD this weekend and I saw this one was back down to 470 - 480 after rebate. I can't remember where though. (Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City?)

As for myself, I'm still torn between the LG L1720P (450 after rebate) and Viewsonic vx910 (600 after rebate)...

I bought the monitor yesterday, and all i can say is i'm utterly amazed.
No ghosting at all so far in farcry or unreal 2k3.
Colors are excellent darker blacks than my crt, and lighter whites, it looks perfect.
It does have a very faint glare, but it's only noticable if you are looking for it.

on a scale of 1-10 i'd give it a 9.5 only because the glare which isn't a big deal, and the lack of dvi. other than that it's the best lcd i've seen in action. (mind you we have like 20 at Ccity, where i work and stare at them all day)

Monitor sold for 549 at work, i got it for 495 plus the $70 MIR, so it brought it down to 425.

i have personaly heard and read (Maximum PC) that in round ups the NEC's where very nice BUT ghosted in games like Need For Speed Underground and some others!

IF i where to get any monitor i would get either the

Viewsonic VP201B 20.1" which is about ~$869
HP (forget the product number :( ) 23" which is about ~ $1,400

but anyone who is getting, looking at, or have would you please tell me what you think about it, which you would rather get, is the extermoney worth the extra $500, and etc

thanks :D ;) :p
