This value ram Patriot good for overclockable?

(cf)Eclipse i honestly dunno how well it'll oc. around 400-450mhz might be possible with some tweaking, but it is rated for 333mhz at cas5..

Actually it's DDR2 5300 (DDR2-667) and from the reviews I have read it is kinda mixed on the abillity to go beyond the rated speed some people say it's great and some say it runs great at stock speed only. always remember YMMV

Man some serios advice , do not depend on value select modules to overclock , if the cpu is a pentium d then you are ok but if its a conroe or amd then try and get higher rated ram.

I tried this with a E6300 and i wasnt really happy with the end results , i dint get the average overclock and was under by 400mhz . Others had it to 2.8ghz , whilst i could only get mine to 2.4ghz if i paid a little more for my ram and it only meant another £7 i could have !!! what they got.

I have talked to eclipse regarding this and he was very nice to reply back but now i think i was quite stupid trying to overclock it to something which was imposible , the companies bin them and then they they get made.

After that we bring them home and try to make it do what it didnt when they tested it.

A fools venture, dont bother. You can pick some really cheap xms ones which will stand some overclocking , the value select modules you might get about 50mhz and in many cases less than what its rated at , when overclocked that is using deviders.

Because of the supply and demand curve i could have got something which was 30% better for another £26 , i am going to go and change them as soon as they are in stock.

Is it for a conroe? If its for a D then get them. You will see that the overclocking comes at a price , you overclock them higher then the latencies will increase and you may lose performance than gain performance.

For example i have bought some DDR800 Supertalnt modules which are very overclockable and they run best 870mhz after that the curve goes down. It however does go to ddr1066 but it runs tighter at ddr870.

If you can buy the cheapest ddr800 atleast that way they will be more futureproof.
