So I've built my systems in the past, but most of the time i've had all the parts and THEN built it. This time, Im kinda going piece-by-piece (as i am buying some upper end parts and cant really afford to buy them ALL at once)

So i was hooking up the PSU i bought Fortron AX-500 into my Lian Li PC65B Plus.

most of the time i had all the parts, hooked up power to mobo, etc and turned it on.

this time, i dont have the mobo, etc yet and just tried to hook up some of the fans and such to the PSU to see how much airflow, etc....turned the psu on, and nothing.

The power switch in the back lit up, but no power was supplied to the fans.

<insert stupid question> Is this because the power is not hooked up to the MOBO? </end stupid question>

thanks!

Yes, the main 24-pin connection needs to recieve a signal from the motherboard indicating that it needs power delivery. What you could do, however, is short some pins (which pins I dont know for sure) and the PSU should power up. This is not advisable because PSUs like to have at least some load on them...

Do you have another computer to test the fans on?
