Hey guys, usually when i need to download a videoi right-click it and click save target as and i can download it directly to my computer. But now when i try doing that, it saves the link as a text file or a webpage instead of as a .wmv or .avi or whatever movie it is. I've tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox so i dont think its web browser so it must be some kind of setting or something somewhere.

How can i make it so i can right click and save target as again.

thanks

Is it all video files from all websites? Did you try different types of files?

Are you sure the link is actually a file and not a webpage that plays the file etc.

yea its all video files from all websites and as far as trying different files ive tried wmv, avi, and mpeg

and im absolutely positive the link is a file and not a webpage

Not one hundred percent sure but i know once that i tried to do that it brought up nothing becuase my microsoft firewall didnt allow direct downloads from the net. Also if your on a network that uses a proxy make sure your proxies are set correctly.

its being weird now it started working fine again yesterday (After i had done absolutely nothing) and i could right click and save target as video files.

Now its doing it again-- when i try to right click and save target as a video file, it wants to save as a text file.

Im not using any proxies, how can i configure/disable my microsoft firewall if that is indeed the problem.

ok, you really need to run some antivirus - anti spyware - it sounds as if some website downloaded some type of blocker (or worse) on your system. make sure your browser settings do not allow software downloading/installing to your system...without you knowing and approving it.
