I am putting a system together as I have the money, and things go on "Daily Specials" He He!
Right Now I Have Sitting In A Box...Waiting to be built...

AMD ATHLON 2500+ BARTON
ASUS A7N8X-E DELUXE
WESTERN DIGITAL 80GB 7200 SATA

Still Researching Memory
Plan to get The Creative Labs Audigy2 ZS Platinum

My question is, has anyone heard or know of the differences between the different MFGs of the Radeon 9800 Pro 128 Card???

I was reading some stuff on the sapphire and it's overclocking abilities....
But don;t know if I should just stay with ATI's Own Version????

I saw a similar thread on this subject where someone just asked if they had ever heard of these other companies like Sapphire / High Tech / Powercolor / MSI...and I was wondering if anyone has a different brand of the 9800 PRO...I think CRUCIAL even makes a version???

Any opinions would really help me with my decision!

Thanks!

First off, be sure to get the 256bit version! ;)

Anyways, I have the Sapphire 9800 pro and I have heard that it overclock really well with aftermarket cooling. I have seen the MSI pro and it's cooling looks pretty good. And sure the built by ATi card probably is a very good buy too! Since these 9800 pro's do generate a lot of heat, you will probably want to get another type of cooling for one of these if you want to overclock moderately. :)

Good luck!

They all are really the same.
Just make sure when you are looking for one, it has 256bit Memory.

You can tell the difference usually by the card would be called the "EZ" version, or the memory is at 300mhz (600mhz) instead of 340mhz (680mhz).

:)

As already stated, they are pretty much the same, and as also mentioned make sure of the 256 bit. A r360 core if you are lucky enough to get one is what you are looking for, it should be able to flash to xt speeds and should overclock better. The heat these cards put out are unbelievable, and the stock fan that comes with them beggars belief, I am surprised that it cools at all, fit an artic cooler (can be had very cheaply) will exhaust hot air from case and lower temps of the card.

I hear ya on the 64! I may just put the Athlon 2500 in the computer I am building for my Mom! And take the plunge :D

I have looked at the MSI and the cooler looks like the best stock so far, I may just go custom with the cooler anyway so......

Thanks for the Feedback!
