i just picked up a samsung 710N today and have it hooked to my 9600xt.

1. it doesn't look stunning
2. when i set it at 1200res, the screen becomes vertically stretched
3. magic tunes says its not compatible with my vid card (WTF)
4. the driver doesn't even automatically install, i had to install it manually

It's an entry level TFT display. You get what you pay for. It has received mediocre reviews most places. About the only thing it has going for it is it's 12ms response time.

It took me a while to become accustomed to my LCD, like 3 weeks or more even. All the while before I was whining about my dead pixel and minimal back light leakage, and just overall being a bitch.

But then after I realized how nice the anti glare was, and tweaked the settings, I now swear by this thing. It's really a nice unit, it just took a while to minimize the backlight leakage and now it's almost unnoticeable in most of my games. And the dead pixel is only noticeable on totally white screens.

what is its native resolution, maybe 1200x1600 isnt its native resolution
try setting it at different resolutions to see if those look better

its resolution is 1280x1024. pretty much any 17" LCD ive ever seen uses this resolution.

that would explain why you cant set it to 1600x1200.

1. Doesnt look stunning? its a base-level LCD. It'll look nicer than a CRT after about 6 hours straight of usage when your eyes don't start stinging heh.
2. 1600x1200 wont work on most 17 inch lcds, 1280-1024 is the standard, as opposed to 1280-960 on a CRT (they're more boxy than a CRT)
3. I dont know what that program is so ill just throw this in. Learn how to spell, its ridiculous
4. Have a cry.
