This Is Driving Me Nuts! Need Help!

Ok just built a new secondary PC with an epox nforce 3 ultra mobo, a64 3000+ cpu, 512 mb corsair value ram and radeon 9800 pro. I installed the nvidia unified drivers (skipped their IDE driver) + realtek audio drivers. Operating system is Windows XP with SP 1 + SP 2 installed.

The problem is that anytime I play a video in windows media player (or any other player) it seems to be playing at 1.5x the normal speed. I've tried everything I could to alleviate this and the only thing that got rid of this problem was when I completely uninstalled the sound drivers and ran it without sound. Does anyone else that uses onboard AC '97 sound have this issue and how did you overcome it? Hopefully my only avenue out of this isn't having to go out and buy an Audigy. :mad:
 
I had the AC '97 on my old computer it was very fickle too. The drivers would crash alot and it was hard to find drivers that would work right. I finally gave up and bought a Audigy Mp3 card, it was great! But the have stopped making it, on my new computer i put a Sound Blaster 24bit
card (it sounds twice a good as the Audigy Mp3 and is only $29 which is $70 cheaper that my old card was when i got it). Yes it also has 5.1!
Just my 2 cents.

funny how my ac 97 never gave me any problem. and omg! it is also 5.1!
 
The AC '97 is not 5.1. But the Sound Blaster is, sorry if that was not clear.
It is working good for you because you have a good drive for it ( we have bad ones and also there is no official driver for it just genaric, they some times work for some computer but not all).
