This flashed X1900XT score seem right ?

Ok, at first i though it was my PSU (which still could be) but does a 3DMark05 score of 8600 seem right for an X1900Xt flashed to XTX bios and OC'd to 650/770 (using ATI Tool) :confused:

My System is as follows
P4 630 3.0ghz @ 3.8ghz
Aqua Gate mini R80
1 GB corsair XMS Pro DDR2675mhz
Sapphire X1900Xt Flashed to XTX @ 650/770
Using 6.3 Cat's
Rosewill 500W PSU
HP Lightscriber dvd/cd burner
Mitsumi Floppy Drive, card reader
 
As a reference, my old flashed and OC'd X800GTO2 pulled a score of a bit over 7k.

O.K. because I was going to say, you should be getting atleast 9500 in 3DMark05.....

Actaully...thats probably close to right with a P4 single core.
 
With a 3.8 overclock in 3DMark05 I would think he should get a little bit higher, because 3DMark05 doesn't really take advantage of dual cores. With 3DMark06, then thats a different story, but I swear, his score should be a little bit higher.

My friend has a P4 single core 3.4 with no overclock and a stock X800XT PE and he scores around 6,500 in 3DMark05.

In my opinion, your score should be a little bit higher, like I said in my last post.

Thats the moast idiotic thing I have read lately...it's the drivers, not 3dmark, that takes advantage of dual cpu's. I looked at all x1900xtx scores, people with the newer drivers and single core get much less 3dmarks than those with dual cores.

The overclock can actually REDUCE the score if rthe CPU is heating up and downclocking, or if the CPU just can't handle that high of an OC.

I've seen many times where a lower OC actually improves a score.

Now...to see if it makes a difference, reduce the OC and run 3dmark again.
 
hmm update drivers, make sure your running on 1024x768 and confirm you have no aa/af settings enabled
 
I went ahead and ordered a new PSU. Reason for me believing its the PSU is because the X1900 is stated to require 30A and my single rail PSU is rated at 26A , Combine this with my Vcore readings jumping around from 1.4 to 1.65 leads me to think the PSU should be my first guess :/

I ordered a new PSU which should arrive soon so we'll see. If that doesn't work.. hey at least I got a new modular PSU :p
 
Thats fine you ordered a new PSU and all...but when you get the same score with a new PSU your going to feel stupid having to go back and read what was posted here.
 
Cat 6.3 actaully reduces your score so keep that in mind. I've read posts that inidicated as high as 200 points. But that was with uber systems

Good Decision, but I am not sure that's the reason why your Vcore is jumping like that. Did you manually set it to 1.4875 in the bios as it looks to me it's set to Auto in the bios. Could be wrong. For clairity is that your CPU or GPU when you suggest Vcore? I assumed CPU. What PSU did you buy?

Friendly advice:

If it is your CPU in order to maintain Vcore is to reduce heat to your mosfets that supply power to your CPU. I have a P5WD2-E Prem which comes with it's own mosfet HS. The arguement is either apply more pressure on the mosfets by using plastic washers or use epoxy/AS5 solution. In either case before you start modifying anything buy yourself this
Delta 40mmx28mm fan and find a way to put it on top of your HS. I am doing the same and now I am passing prime95 when before I was failing it. So the forced air on your current aluminum HS ontop of your mosfets does help stablize OC performance...I cannot guarantee that for your though.

My scores went up, which is what most dual core amd's do. Single cores don't fare as well.
