This doesn't seem right for a GTX 1060 ....

So ... I got my new Inno3D GTX 1060 compact/mini, and here is the result for 3Dmark Firestrike.

I looked up and it seems most 1060 got up to 11000 dish. This seems bit low even for a mini.

Is there anything wrong?

Typical user error.. you are looking at the OVERALL 3dMark firestrike result and that's just simply and plain wrong as it's directly affected by CPU(physics) results... what you have to look is at the Graphics Score which in your case is 12.227, that's what you should look at the moment of any directly comparison between GPUs and that's the result that most of the time is posted in review sites not the overall result, everything is fine, nothing wrong with your card.

What Araxie said. Your CPU is weak, bringing the overall score down, but your graphics score is stronger than a reference 1060.

Thank you for the comments. Just as a matter of concern, how much would a CPU like i5 4460 bring down the performance in games like witcher 3 compare to the latest i5?

this video may help you to find differences between the performance of your CPU with latest i5.. take in consideration that every CPU in the video is at stock speed, so your i5 4460 have 400mhz less than the 4690K which is quite considerable and the differences from the your CPU to the latest i5 6600K will be larger than what the 4690K show in the video... at the speed of your chip, you could be more or less in the place between the 2500K and 3570K as both have higher clocks to counter the differences in IPC...

That video made me realize my i5 2300 will be seriously hurting my potential plans of a 1070.

Ugh...I won't have the budget to do the CPU for about 18months.

if you have a motherboard with overclocking capabilities you may increase your CPU multiplier by 4 for free. So those 400mhz will greatly improve your experience, however the bottleneck will be still there just less pronounced running your chip at 3.3ghz instead of 2.9ghz..

You can also look at the FS/FT for a cheap used 2600K/2700K/3770K (Only if you have a mobo with overclocking capabilities). and improve massively the performance and forget about a whole system upgrade for a long time.

Araxie, that video is very helpful in answering my question, thank you.

I went ahead and buy the gtx 1060 to upgrade my 750 ti and thought it would be a big improvement.

It is, just not as big due to my CPU.

Glad to help, but don't fool yourself you have a gargantuan performance upgrade from the 750TI to the 1060 you bought.. not matter what kind of scenario you play with it, the huge upgrade will be there its just that in certain tittles you will have troubles with minimum FPS so the experience will not be as smooth as with a more powerful CPU, enjoy your card its a huge upgrade you will notice immediately in your gaming experience.

Haven't we all had trouble with certain tittles?

To be honest, I have yet to encounter troubles with titles as long as the setting is at medium with my 750ti lol.

Just that now with 1060 I can set things to Ultra, which is nice.

While true, I think my comment flew over your head.
