When I got home today I found my computers off, apparently the power went out today. When I turned then on, my computer was randomly rebooting from overheating. When I left this morning I had load temps of 43-46C, now at idle temps are a steady 45C. Ambient case temps are 34C.

First thing I checked was that the fan was moving and I know the motherboard sensor isn't wrong. This is on my XP-90 with a 50cfm 92mm fan. The arctic silver I put on, when I installed my heatsink Friday, wasn't done very well, but I dont think thats the cause of such high temps. Vcore is still stock 1.5V, with no overclocking. I'm going to reseat my hsf when I get home tomorrow to see if that changes anything.

I dont know what could have caused such a spike in temps. Any ideas?

there might be a slight chance that your got power surge when the power came back. this can cause some damage to the mobo if you don't have a regulator or a good power suply...

during my P3 days, power surge can town my pc on by itself!
