heh... i'm using an applebred duron (1.8 ghz) with the retail hsf off an xp2800+. currently about half an hour into prime95, 100%full load, and the temp hasnt at all gone above 40 C.

My brother, with the 2800, and an Aero7 blower, has temps in the 45 C range at idle. is that common? seems like the aero oughtta keep it cooler... maybe the 2800 is really a hot chip... or maybe he just got a factory freak.

is this common? i know it's not damaging to run a chip that hot, but my temps seem REALLY good, and his seem REALLY bad.

wierd.

which motherboards are being used? and yes, different chips at the same speed register different temps.

mine's the MSI K7MN Combo-L (accepts SDRAM or DDR)

his is the DFI nforce2 (non-lanparty) one.

umm..The 2800+ dosent run at 1.8GHz...it could be 2.25GHz or 2.08GHz. (Tbred or Barton)

Thats the reason for the warmer temps on the 2800+
