Hey it's been awhile since i have posted, a recent MOBD failure has set me back, but at the same time it's lead me to purchase a P5Q Deluxe MOBD which is a step in the right direction.

anyway I started OCing this new Q9550 and found it extremely easy to get a rock solid 3.6GHz clock on my first try, almost half expecting to get at least one failure.

-FSB 425MHz
-V-Core: 1.325v (i can probably go lower)
-GTL V Reference (0/2): 0.635x
-GTL V Reference (1/3): 0.635x
-PLL: Auto (1.5v)
-VTT: 1.26v (this is just a rough number I used seems to work though)
-DRam V: 1.90v
-NB V: 1.20v
-NB GTL V Reference: Auto
-Load Line Calibration: Enabled

- Prime 95: -8.5Hrs small FFT, 10.5Hrs Blend
-OCCT: -1Hr

so whats your take on this, good chip for a 4.0GHz goal? but I'm not sure I want to push it to far.
Also you think this is a good 24/7 setup, I don't see any danger running the chip like this, manly to the low voltages required.
 
id say keep pushing it higher as you go.. just watch the memory because you are already overclocking it since its at 425mhz which is 25mhz higher then stock.. though the ram should easily do 500mhz you might have the raise the voltage on the ram..
 
It's an E0....It should be able to do 3.6GHz on VID. 1.325v is high for just 3.6GHz.
 
Yeah, you are using quite a bit of voltage. My C1 Q9550 does 3.8GHz with that much voltage. You should be able to hit that speed with less.

hey and i also tried my v-core on auto and it defaults at 1.32v @ 3.6GHz (thats why i did a 1.32v-core) should i try to force it to run on a lower voltage like 1.25v?
 
voltage is fine.. temps are fine.. you can try lowering the voltage.. will bring the full load temps down.. but i say ya might as well try to push the overclock and see how high you can go with the voltage at 1.32v..

Auto voltage is a joke, set the voltage to VID (that's the stock default voltage of the chip at stock clocks, NOT auto) and leave everything else where it is, test to see if its stable, wile pushing for more seems nice, I don't see you getting it without a better cooler, you are already hitting 81C (stock cooling?), so try and going down on the voltage and see where your temps end up.
 
Bingo 100% stable at 1.175v V-Core which lead to a 24oC drop in top load temps.

Thanks for every one for the help i had no idea i was giving the chip way to much juice (that would be why it was 81oC in IBT)

now it time to go for a 3.8GHz 4.0GHz clock with in reasonable temps and voltage
