I need to get a new case for my new computer and decided to get a Lian Li PC-7A with side window and would like to put some lighting on it.

Just a side question, does anyone have any experience with coolerguys.com? They're the only place I can find a Lian Li PC-7A that includes a side window panel for a reasonable price.

I'm new too lighting, so I need help with lighting my case. I'm confused with all the different options (LEDs, Ultraviolet, Cathodes, etc.) How should I light my case up?

Thanks.

Coolerguys is a great place to shop...

As for lighting:

CCFL Cold Cathodes provide the brightest most even lighting, but they get a bit warm, and the colours arn't often exactly as advertised (red is orangish, blue is greyish, etc.)

LED's are completely cold, provide bright spot lighting... But can't light an entire case, as the light doesn't spread very well. Their colours are SPOT on... A red LED = 695nm bright red.

UV lights (can come in an LED or a CCFL) are basically blacklights. They'll make anything that's blacklight reactive glow a nice bright colour.

What's your favourite colours? Popular choices include

Straight Blue
Blue + UV
Red + White
Yellow + UV

etc.

Thanks for the info! :)

I prefer a blue-ish light. If I want the whole case to light up, I should go with Cathodes? I'm still confused with the "blacklight reactive". Are certain hardware, fans, etc. blacklight reactive?

Yes, certain fans and paints, cable sleeves, water coolant dyes, and other components will glow under UV.

Go with some 12" CCFL's in Blue if you want your entire case to glow.

Alternitively, go with a 4" kit if you want to be able to isolate the glow to certain parts of the case. note, a SINGLE 4" cathode will light the entire case, but they're easier to manipulate so only parts of the case can be lit.

For example, I use a 4" CCFL to light my entire case red, then use 2 white CCFL's to backlight certain componants and areas.
