even with a 9800xt we can't play at 1600x1200 with 4xaa and 16x AF.

Just take Halo PC for exemple. framerates are very low at 1024x768 4xaa , 8x AF with a 9800xt / 5950 Ultra

we need more power :(
I realy hope next generation of 3D card will be a lot better

Halo is a piece of crap. Extremely poorly programmed. It's not the video card's fault.

Halo is a unique situation.

But you are right, even in other games we can't always play smoothly at 1600x1200 4xaa/8xaf or higher with any smooth performance. But of course you CAN play at this setting in OLDER games.

As new games come out so do the requirenments for those games because they push things just a little bit more.

Imagine HL2 and Doom3, we'll be lucky to play smoothly with AA and AF at high resolutions.

Quake 3 came out in December of 99 IIRC.

How many generations of cards came out until we were able to play it at 1600x1200 with all the goodies turned on? :)

I wonder if game companies worked even closer with video card companies, would they be able to simultaneously release products that utilized the full potential of each?
