System comprised of the following

opteron 165 @ 2.7
antec neoHE 550
x1900xtx (stock)
400 gig western digital sata
3x 120mm blue led fans
HP dvdrw lightscribe
Creative xifi fatality

Ive had a few lockups in cod2 and dod source, 1 today and the last time was a few weeks back, ive been told though that the psu isn't upto the job becuase of how low the 12v reading is. Bios says 11.90 on bootup compared to the 11.78 that speedfans reporting.

Multimeter.

It is also well within spec. Spec is 12v + - 5%.

As bbq said get a multimeter to measure it.

Software is shite for voltages - Speedfan/Foxconn reads volts as 11.90v but multi shows it at 12.05v and steady at that too

Have to buy one to test it out, so i basically just have to power on the system and put the prons into the pci-e connector? What setting do i use on the multi meter?

1. Purchase multimeter.
2. Put leads (red into yellow, black into black) into molex.
3. Power up.
4. start power-intensive test (games work well, as does prime95)
5. ??
6. Profit!!

Any paticular setting to use on the multimeter, most have a dial with loads of different options that are selectable.

Set it to 20VDC. Measure at not only the molex but also at the 4pin 12V connector on the mobo if you've got a dual rail PSU. Molex's are on one rail and the 4pin 12V is on another (for the CPU) so this will tell you what both your rails are doing.

D'oh...also measure at the PCI-e since the NEO HE has 3 rails with the third feeding the PCI-e cards.
