Third display, two NVIDIA cards in a Crossfire board?

I have a P5Q Pro with an E8400. I'm running a GTX 260, and I may want to run a third display. I have a PALiT 9600GT lying around. Would there be any issues running both cards in non-SLI in a Crossfire board? I would use the 9600GT simply for the third display. Is using a secondary graphics card for PhysX an automatic thing? I guess if I can use it to run a third display and help with PhysX, that'd be fine, but I don't want any conflicts, performance hits, etc.

You should be able to do that without a problem. You can enable PhysX on that card in the nvidia control panel, it should help...there's only a couple PhysX games out, can't hurt to try it with it on, off and running on your 260 and compare performance.

There's nothing preventing you from using multiple nVidia cards in a non-SLI motherboard. What you're suggesting should work fine.

Yeah. Just wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any unforeseen conflicts. The 9600GT is unused. I didn't want to open it and install it and end up with issues. I'd been trying to sell it before deciding to keep it for a potential third display.

Thanks, everyone.

If you just need it for the third display, I would recommend that you sell it anyway and get something cheap like an 8400GS to drive the third monitor (unless you aren't able to sell the 9600GT for a decent price).

The 9600GT was free. Haven't been able to sell it for awhile, so I figure I'll just keep it.
