Hey guys Im looking for new 17 inch crt because this ones resolution and quality sucks. The only worry I have is that this one is a 15 inch and I feel if it gets any larger my eyes will hurt because my monitor is very close to me. So I was wondering if there was a 17 inch which isnt as deep as my current 15 inch. Thanks for the help.

why not save up for an lcd, upgrading really rocks ;D

but, never seen a thin crt, i think that they need
that space for the components inside
 
hmm to apply something we learned in physics or what not. but basically the bigger the screen, the bigger the electron ray gun, thus the bigger the actual monitor size.

but if you want a nice 17", i think phillips makes one where it takes up just bout the same space as an average 15" crt
 
Well im not going to upgrade because for a decent 17 inch lcd it will cost me like 600 bucks.
 
I decent CRT shouldn't hurt your eyes, just up the refresh rate, problem solved. I have a 22" that sits very close to me that I run at 120hz.
 
whoa! 120hz? Thats a lot, what resolution is that at?

I run my 19 inch viewsonic at 1280 x 1024 at 75hz and it looks great to me. (plus those are its native resolution settings)
 
The thing is I cant run this monitor in games at a higher resolution then 1080 by 7 something or other. Also this monitor will not get any brighter which is a problem in some games. Your probably right ill get a new crt and I should be alright.
