Self-explanatory title. I've got an old Thinkpad workhorse that I would very much like to revive with a fresh load of ubuntu, however, what's the fun with a ball if its on a chain? I purchased a replacement off of NE for my girlfriends' and it lasted maybe 6 months at around an hour charge before kicking the bucket and losing all ability to charge. Does anyone have any leads for a solid thinkpad battery replacement retailer? Thinkpad T4x would do it...

Much obliged...

Sorry I don't really have a recommendation for you. I myself have a t43. found a replacement generic brand battery off amazon. After installing it, every time I boot into windows the system freezes immediately. I returned it and they shipped me a replacement. Same thing happened. Tried XP and Window 7. Haven't tried Linux, So that will be my next option I guess. Battery specs are the same as the original. So be careful when Buying a replacement battery.

I found one off of Amazon that got favorable reviews:

http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Battery...sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330190887&sr=8-1-spell

Apparently this company truly honors their warranty and reviewers state it holds a charge for up to 3 hours! I ordered one and will update with a review myself after some use.

BTW, after I talked to my g/f, she stated that we never did end up getting a replacement off of NE...I think I intimidated myself into not getting one based off how awful the reviews were. My laptop has horrendous backlight bleed, it has classic old computer electronic clicky noises and my hard drive may chirp now and then, but nothing compares to the build quality even 6 years later than a solid IBM thinkpad! Heck, I don't even think it has any screws holding it together underneath :) . Ubuntu looks straight up sexy on it...
