Right now, i have 185$ altogether because of Christmas and some other savings. I've always been looking at maybe picking up watercooling, but have never really thought it was a great idea. But i was looking arond the forums for a little, and started seeing more nd more WC'd comps. I loved how they looked and how they helped cooling. I have the Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu heatsink right now. I dont have access to my comp at the moment, since im at home and its at my dorm at boarding school. I OC'd it to somewhat success(but i forgot till what i got it too). Do you think WCing for ~185 shipped is worth it. I can buy some fans or something from bestbuy becasue i have a 25$ gift card to there too. Also, any suggestions for parts.
 
After all parts look for $250+ you could buy a l;ittle lower but then you will allways want to upgrade gey save some more and get what you need as far as kit the parts in the swiftech apex kits are good and if you don't need the red box you can part it out. But thats a good place to start cheap water kits are no beeter than good air cooling.
 
I'd say you good build a decent water cooling setup with that much.
Danger Den D5 pump: $80
Danger Den TDX CPU block: $50
Dual 120MM Rad: $35
Use a T line with some 1/2 Tygon Tubing = ~$15
Plus fans and water Additive

Should give you much better temps than air. What case you gonna use? Your gonna have to figure out where to put things.

Get the D5 / TDX combo for 110$ shipped, saves you a good bit of money. The rest there gets you everything you need to watercool your CPU for less than 180$.
 
well thisis the case i have right now. Its not too cool looking, but i got a good deal on it (40 shipped) Do you think it would fit

Yes, use a rad box to mount the rad on the back outside of your case. Then put the D5 on the floor of the case. Should work just fine.

You might have to drill 2 holes in your case to use it, but that isnt that hard...

A T-line is used to fill the loop. Go look at the instalation videos at danger den to get a good idea of how it works.

6-8 Feet of tubing should be plenty, with some spare. More couldn't hurt.
 
oh man that rad box is 30$. hmm, well i think i could work that out by buying some fans rom best buy with that gift card. Thanks a lot guys.

EDIT: That rad box thing looks like it only holds a single 120 mm rad, not double. :eek:
Do you think there are "double" rad boxes?
 
A rad box will hold a double or even a triple rad, you'll just have it attached to the rad at one mounting point and the others will overhang.

No big deal really.
 
do i need some kind of clamps/ fasteners/etc. for the tubing where it meets entries and exits into the blcok, pump, and radiator? And i also im going to get the MCT-5 non-conductive formula for liquid. Good Idea?
 
Yes, clamps of some sort are a must. Some advocate wormgear metal clamps, some zip ties and others other types. I've used both the snap plastic clamps like Danger Den sells and the wormgear type and have had both leak but the snap style were easier to correct than the wormgear style.

It comes down to personal prference though, nothing is infalible.
 
ok after lookig around at the Hot Deals section to see if some of this was on sale anywhere else, i saw this ram Id rather have 2GB of average ram than 1GB of pretty crappy ram. for the price, i dont think anything else will beat it. I might just get some lighitng or somethig and be done with it.
 
If it's a good deal go for it but I've got to ask, what's it got to do with water cooling?

I've got the Patriot Cas 2-3-2-5 2gig kit and I'm loving it. Good stuff.
 
i only have this 185 to spend. I can chose between wc'ing and maybe getting some more mhz from my proc, or getting the ram and pretty mubh guaranteeing better performance
 
I'd look for ram rated for PC4000 or so rather than PC3200 that way you're assured to have headroom to at least 250FSB (or HTT) 1-1...

Just my 2c worth.
