Tell me what you guys think. I was thinking about putting together a little machine to backup & store my files every night. I have an old Celeron 800 machine sitting in the corner collecting dust that would be perfect for this. Basically what I need it to do is backup my documents off my main system (about 1 GB), all the files from my server (about 90 GBs) and a few misc from my GFs system (less than 10 MB). I figure a 200GB drive will provide plenty of room for growth. Questions:

1. What File System? Fat32 or NTFS? I know there are benefits to NTFS, but I was thinking Fat32 for maximum compatability in case of total disaster.
2. What software? Limited budget so I was thinking of just using NTBackup (built in to XP). Are there any better free backup utils?

Does this sound like a decent idea? Any suggestions (such as a totally different way of doing this) would be welcome.

Sounds good. It is really up to you if NTFS or FAT is going to be used. The built in Windows backup utility works very well IMHO and should do fine for what your wanting to do.
