Ok Friday is payday for me and what im lookin at right now is an ABIT K8T800 paired with either a A64 3000+ or 3200+ useing my XMS 4000 pro

any thoughts? also my current antec TP550 is still compatible with the dman thing right?
now i just need a water block :p

Ill do some minor OCing..maybe 100-200mhz over stock..but thats really it...which should i go for?
 
the true power will still be compatible. its only when you get into EPS and all that when you have to start worrying.

you may want to wait (hate to suggest this) until the new A64's and p4's come out (socket 939 and socket 775) just to get the lower prices and dual channel memory. but that looks like a good setup if you have to get one now.

would this replace your 2400 mobile setup, or augment it?

Instead of the ABIT mobo what about the Chaintech ZNF3-150 ZENITH board?

Im trying to find a board whos PCI bus wont be changed when OCing.....since if im not mistaken..the only A64 that unlocked is the FX's
suggestions guys?
 
.... stick with the mobile 2400+, major savings and comparable performance... unless you need another machine.
 
o yeah wait for the new bioses for the nf3. i THINK that the new bios will lock the pci bus. if not then the nf3-250(gb) will be locked, so you should wait for that (its got the sweet fast-ass gigE as well)
 
XMS 4000 would hardly be ideal for an AMD cpu, its better suited for an Intel.

The latency is too high.

Its running just fine man.
I honestly never really care bout latencies.
besides this stuff runs 200mhz cas2 anyways with no problem so far :)
