Thinking about water cooling.....one question?

Would a single water cooling system, say like the zalman Reserator 1 or 2, be able to comfortably cool a cpu, northbridge and 2 video cards???

or would I need a more robust system like the Reserator XT???

Sorry....I've never used water cooling before....total noob.
 
Neither would work.

If you've got 2 8800GTX in SLI and a n E8500, you need at least a triple radiator... If you want to throw in a NB as well, you'll probably need a quadruple radiator.
 
I don't know if even a quad rad would be enough unless he had a high airflow setup..
 
When you add the heat generated by 2 x video cards, you want to go with a full blown high-end radiator setup. You'll want a good quality actively-cooled radiator. The reservator's would work for a CPU only solution, with very minimal overclocking. Those are designed to be pretty and quiet, they are not designed for extreme cooling.

As a "total noob", I would recommend starting with a CPU only loop. Trust me. I've set up my very first watercooling loop recently (hurray!) and it was already a challenge as a CPU only loop (I am using dual radiators, so that adds a bit). I'm sure some of the more experienced guys would have found it to be a simpler challenge than I did, but being new to it there were some hurdles that I hadn't expected.

ie: How do you fill and test the loop outside of the case, if you would then have to dissasmble the loop to fit it back into the case? How do you fill the loop? How do you keep water from spilling everywhere while you are setting it up? How can you fit hoseclamps in these tight spaces?

Those were some of the challenges I faced that I just wasn't expecting on my first time setting it up. Next time, I'll be better prepared, since I'm now better experienced.

I would simply suggest starting with a CPU only loop first time around.
