thinking about throwing away my generic psu

right now im running the 400watt "icute" psu that came with my case and i just got an X800 XL and will be getting an ABIT AI7 and a 512 stick of crucial ballistix pc4000 ram and i dont want all my new stuff to blow up. so im thinking of getting a new psu. how much power do you guys think i will need:

P4 3.0GHz northwood
X800 XL
ABIT AI7
Ballistix 512MB PC4000 (getting anoter stick when i get more money)
1 HDD
1 Optical Drive

Well, not to beat a dead horse. Wattage doesn't have as much meaning as people think it does. You need a power supply with strong 12v rails that is good quality. Once those requirements are filled, I can tell you from experience and gauging by other peoples systems configured with similar power requirements to yours, 350=400Watts max is all you should need. Provided the power supply is good. Technically you could probably get away with a smaller 300Watt model, provided its a damn good PSU in terms of amperage and quality.
