Thinking about taking the plunge

I have used air cooling on PCs all my life, and I am debating taking the plunge into the world of watercooling, or even phase change. I dont have a need for anything to be silent, its a bonus, but not a requirement. I am curious, do you guys think the temps justify the $200+? I need to get this stock cooler off my FX-51, its been on there far enough, I got it originally because there were no great coolers in the beginning of the AMD64s. I at first went to the XP-90 with a no brainer, then I started thinking about watercooling, and probley not but maybe even phase change. Now, What I am looking for is, is watercooling right for me? The biggest advantage to watercooling over any other is that you can hook it up to your GPU and CPU, without the big heatsink or loud fans. Can watercooling be transported easily/safely without taking it apart? I go to LANs about once every 2 weeks or so, and dont want to have it be a hassle.. How much better temps, and overclocks am I going to be seeing? Will it fit EASILY in my PC-65 or will I have to get a bigger case or go external, I have seen some watercooling in them, but I dont want it to be to tight where its hard to put it together? Also, what watercooling setup would you recommend? I was looking at either Koolance Exos for external , but for internal I am not totally sure, from what I understand the DD block, and Black ice II are good choices for radiator/cpu/gpu? What do you guys think will be the best method of cooling for me? I like to overclock, but its more for fun then to save money, although I enjoy a boost in speeds :D .

I'll take your post one question at a time.
- Yes, I think watercooling is definitly worth the $200+ because it is far better than air cooling, and its fun!
- Yes, if you want to overclock, and you aren't ready for the complexity of phase change cooling, which can cost big $$$, than water cooling is right up your alley.
- Depending on the components you purchase, water cooling can be very easily transported. If you have some carpentry skills than you could attach an external box on top or bottom of your case, to hold all your WC components. If not, they have many kits avaliable that can fit into a mid-tower case.
- The temps you'll get range depending on the components you buy. Unlike phase change cooling, water cooled systems, like air cooled systems, cannot drop below the rooms ambient temperature. However, water can more efficiently keep you temps at your rooms ambient temp than air cooling by a long strech.
- WC steups are all pretty straight forward when it comes to assembly. You don't have to be very smart to put togehter a WC system.
- I would recomed a DIY kit rather than a kit you would buy from lets say, Koolance.

I hope that helped a little.
