being that it is only $164 at newegg, it seems like a good choice. but i dont really know much about it. Will it be able to play cod2, bf2, and other games on somewhat high detail? Basically, i just want to know more about this card.

thanks.

Right now I have the X850 XT overclocked to Platinum Edition speeds (see sig).

I play COD2 @ 1680x1050 with trilinear filtering, no AA, low quality shadows, all textures are set to high not extra, no Vsync and I typically get frame rates around 40-45 in areas like the african campaign but take the biggest hit in Russian campains where the snow really takes its toll and I hit low 30s in places where smoke and snow are heavy. Now if you play at a lower res like 1280x1024 you can get better framerates close to 60fps with some extra features turned back on like AF or AA. I play battlefield at 1280x960 with alot of detail turned up with exceptions of heavy AF or AA ( to be honest I havent played BF2 except for demo) and I get close to 60fps. X850XT is a great card that still runs strong and is available at a great price. Hope that helps

I play BF2 @ 1440x900 (widescreen lcd, res forced thru config) everything on high with 4AA, have yet to experience slow downs or stuttering Pretty noisy tho, if BF2 wasn't such a loud game it would drive me nuts at full load, isn't a problem when just at 2D tho.

I have the Platinum Edition, and it is a great card (even still). At that price, it's a very good deal. Depending on what res you play at you should be able to have pretty good IQ. at 12*10 you can still run high settings in most modern games.

do you think this card will be able to play ghost recon: advanced warfighter on at least decent settings?

...possibly with a overclocked pentium d 805?
