Thinking about downgrading LCDs

Hey all,

I have a dilemma. I currently have three Dell 2405s running at 1920x1200. I have two of them configured using NVidia's horizontal span and the third runs other systems or TV. These are really nice monitors in that they support PIP, rotate and have all the bells and whistles (which I really never use heh). I play various games but mostly MMOs. I play WoW in 3840x1200 but other games in 1920x1200.

So now my dilemma. I want to switch to the triplehead to go but it does not support my resolution. So I am considering downgrading to three 19" monitors so I can finally have triple head gaming. I am just not sure I want to give up all that real estate.

So has anyone done this before? If so, how difficult was the transition? Any suggestion for good monitors at around $225?

Thanks,

James

Dumb question:

Those monitors scale pretty well, right? Why not simply go to a WS resolution one or two steps below the native rez. on them and be on your merry way?

Thank you for your reply.

The closest native aspect ratio that would work is 1280x800. I created a custom resolution and it seems to work. In fact, that is the resoution I am using as I type this and the text looks really good.

My final resolution would be 3840x800 which is lower (800 vs 1024) but I would get to keep my larger monitors.

Thanks,

James
