Thinking about doing an external PSU..

...actually, I'm not thinking about it, I am going to do it.
I have the small Antec Aria, and the heat issue I have is really bugging me.

So, I decided to take out my 300W PSU and make it external. I was about to use the same PSU, when I thought to myself, since I am not limited to size anymore, why not go for a regular PSU. --> that has lead me to buying the Antec NeoPower 480.(keeping it in the Antec family). It is on its way from NewEgg as we speak.

I already know how I will be routing the wires from the outside to the inside.

My question for you guys, is there anything I should be concerned about with an external PSU. Any precautions that I need to know about? For some reason, I feel nervous about doing this, but I still will do this.

Also, on a side note, Since I will be taking out the PSU, I will be installing a 120mm fan in its place. This should help with the cooling of my antec aria.

I have also thought that I might have room for a very decent water-cooling setup with a 120mm radiator and fan. What do you guys think about that setup?

One thing you might want to be aware of is electrical interference. You will get some noise in the power doing it that way although it will most likely be minor and not cause any problems. Usually the case shields it so it gets blocked out to begin with. Also you might check the voltages with a multimeter to make sure they haven't dropped to much. Longer wires will drop a little voltage although it shouldn't cause any complications. If you get a low speced PSU to begin with however it might be something to check just for the heck of it.

Well I don't claim to know your plan for routing the wires inside your case, but be mindful of limiting cable length too much, and watch for sharp metal edges around where the cables will enter. Perhaps you should line the hole with rubber molding or something, if you haven't already thought of this. You do not want the wires to short to your chassis, really.
