I am having fun, I work as a college student to support my hobby. Over the years I did several voltage mods and was always tinkering. The Athlons I killed after I upgraded by using my spare pc as a test bed. However I killed a combo that I RMA'ed to newegg because a fan header shorted. So that is where the K8V and the 3000+ came in. Also just recently I had my VNF3-250 at 310mhz HTT before it started to go haywire. Hopefully a new bios chip will fix it.
 
I have crapped out a cheap 30 dollar 550W PSU I got from svc
a 1.4 T-Bird.... wasn't overclocking just doing stupid things with it
almost messed up my Gigabyte GA-7VAX 1394 m0b0, for some reason it won't POST when my 9600 is in it but will with my GeForce3 just fine.... not a huge list but it is sure to grow

I guess I'm doing everything right in reguards to cooling because I have never burned anything out (unless it was intentional) to my knowledge due to overclocking. I have had componants die due to the crappy Florida power characteristics where I live. My UPS was one of my better investments. I did, however, intentionally destroy some hardware while working as a tech at Best Buy. ;)

Well you must remember we all have dirrerent opinions of what are dangerous voltages. When I upgrade it means time to put the old system parts at high voltage, unless I have a friend who want them.

Thank god I'm not the only one... lol. I plugged a cd-rw in while my computer was ON..... oops? *sparks fly* :eek: Just glad to still be with everyone.
 
I forgot 3 floopy drives up in smoke 2 shocked me, plus several old power supplys have given me a good jolt!

I had a fan connector go on the header the wrong way with only 2 of the three pins connected and in the wrong holes. It shorted the board and the Zalman started to smoke. It killed the board and the Zalman and the PSU. Luckily all were still under warranty.

After looking at the list compaired to mine. I see a nasty pattern. Almost every one has fried an MSI board.... That don't sound to healthy for MSI

Amatuer. Got mine to about 2.2ghz on stock cooling, around 45 idle, 55 load. :)
 
Killed one AMD T-Bird 900 mghz processor back in the day. I accidentally crushed the core moving it back and forth between systems. :(

Other than that I have been blessed thus far though I never really got into extreme overclocking....
 
4 K6-2s when I stated messing with water cooling...

one was cause I stuck it at 3.5v cause it worked fine at 3.4... forgot that at 3.5.. those boards on;y have single volatge and not dual...

one was cause I took the heatspeader off, siliconed the resistors, put the heatspreader back on, siliconed it, and then filled the air space under the heatspreader with water to try and get a better overclock.. worked for a while, but eventually some water got to the resistors.

one was cause my water-block came off the night after I installed it..

one was cause one of the hoses came loose and the pump pumped all the water on the floor at night.

1x ASUS P5A... the CPU socket messed up cause I put too much pressure on it.

1x Athlon socket A 1Ghz... tightened the Alpha heatsink down too much... butes CPU into 4 pieces.

1x Athlon 700 slot A... shorted the L2 cache out with my custom spacers...

1x XP 1800+... killed the bridges after multiple times of changing the multiplier

don't remember anything else...

SEVERAL hard drives (ibm 40gb, 5-6 27gb WD, almost got my seagate 120gb as well... oops:p)
just recently killed a p2 HP Kayak workstation... dropped a screwdriver on the mobo by accident and now it gets a bios error... but it is a p2 so no big loss there
my palomino 2100+... chipped the core... couple too many shoddy waterblock installs with a NSFA (not safe for athlons) mounting setup
coupla motherboards... busted caps (not really ME killing them, but still... they died)
bout the same number of psus as motherboards above... same thing. 3-4 of them smoked to death.
a fan or three... not sure exactly how many...
damaged a radeon 9000 pro... bent it a bit, now it isn't really stable @ any clock speeds (i also chipped the core a bit on that too... don't ask how)

ummm.... anything else...
keyboard or two (spills, breakages in general)
an 8 port 10/100 switch
a few monitors (i think a 15, a 17 or three, and a 19... mebbe a 14 as well)
i've probably taken out some memory here and there... nothing recently though
i've had fun taking a sawblade to a few printers a few years ago... love that 'cutting PCB' smell... can't beat it.


oh yeah, and a 286 as well. probably can throw a 486 or 5 in there too... whee:)
 
Killed K6-2 by direct die cooling it, nasty corrosion on those resistors, not to mention nasty chips on the die (not due to directdie)

Oh also killed K5 when I tried cooling it with a stack of ice cubes, don't ask me how! :eek:

Also got confused with that stupid Asus slotket, the diagram is backwards, I put 3+ volts through my poor celeron instantly frying it.
 
WOW! I thought I hosed myself.... I just killed a 12.1'' LCD from my carputer project... :(

Wasted money on that and an inverter, now need an OPUS DC to DC PSU, $200 fucking bucks for 150 watts :rolleyes:
Then another $280 or so on a lilliput or other touch screen LCD.
 
i toasted a celeron 600 that could do 1035 and an abit slotket III. all because i put it in a motherboard i found to test it out.;
