Things closing when I end something "Not Responding"

Like when a fodler doewsn't respond on me, I choose end now. Things in my system tray close. Thing such as AIM and mIRC stay open, but things like Folding@Home and Steam closes. They are shown as running processes still though. What's up with that?
 
Hmmm...Recently happened again....Ayone knows what's up? When Internet Explorer doesn't respond, this doesn't happen. Onlt with things such as folders.
