I usually am able to fix why my computer crashes, but I have already replaced 2 critical parts to see if it would help, no avail.
I went from an raidmax 350w to a antec 420w psu, a decent psu. Still crashed weird. I sold my cheap brand 9800 pro (powercolor) and got a better brand 9800 pro (ATI), still crashes.
When my comp crashes it is random, I could be playing WoW for 10 minuts and boom! I could be playing farcry for an hour, and boom! I could be listening to winamp and browsing the internet and with tears in my eyes BOOM!
It makes a really weird sound that comes out of my speakers when it crashes too. Like there is major interference in my sound card (a soundblaster Audigy Platinum). It's a high spitched weird kind of electronic pop and a short screech, hard to explain.
This leads me to believe it's the soundblaster audigy I bought off ebay OEM a while ago. Why else would a weird sound come out of the speakers? Normally if a cpu over heats or a gpu overheats it a nice silent crash and reboot.
Any ideas? I think I'll go ahead and pull out the ol' sound blaster live and see if my comp still crashes. Here are the detailed specs:
p4 3.0c
abit ic-7 875p chipset
1gb nanya ram
ati 9800 pro
wd 80gb 8mb cache hd
antec 420w true psu
soundblaster audigy platinum
seagate sata 120gb 8mb cache
