Thermoforming polycarbonate?

For some reason, the idea of making a curved "glass" screen for my RasPi Mac Classic mod has taken over my brain today. Instead of chopping up a perfectly good CRT and affixing it over my LCD screen, what do y'all think about thermoforming some Lexan? I was thinking that I could dust and scan the CRT screen, add some mounting points in CAD software, and make a form which I'd then 3D print, cover in... wax? Mold release? and then lay a Lexan panel over it and run a heat gun back and forth until it's melted over the form. We've got a pretty good case mod community here. I was wondering if any of y'all have done anything like this before. Maybe I'm missing an even easier way to do it. Maybe someone HAS tried it, and discovered that the heat gun discolors/distorts the Lexan, or that it's impossible to get it to form correctly.

Please, share your thoughts!
