I have too many SFF cases as it is....I'm pretty happy with my Silverstone Fragbox for now and don't plan on buying the Lanboy anytime soon :cool:

Hopefully somebody else will step up and post up alot of pics and comments in my place on this one!

Performance PCs is selling them now too. Just the black version though I think.
 
60mm fans are to loud. at 7v there useless and same with quiet ones. i have had a few cases that used 60's and i could never find a fan i was happy with. if they would wize up and figure out how to install a 90mm (or even 80mm) exaust i would be interested.

I bought an X-Gene mini wireless keyboard from them. It arrived dead with a screw rattling around the inside. So the day of, I immediately send a request for an RMA “Please send an RMA number for this keyboard…” Hank responds that I will have the manufacturer get in touch with you. I politely say this is within 30 days and Performance-PCS policy says I can go through you. His response is “Well we have been having a lot of problems with these keyboards so they are going to handle it.” (Yet they are still selling them?)

I don’t really care how many problems they have had, it’s not my problem yet! I kept my mouth shut and was hoping to get an RMA from X-Gene quickly so if the second one turned out DOA, I could still return it to Performance-PCS. X-Gene responded a day later, I sent them my RMA form and he forwarded it to someone else saying, “Vicki please take a look at this.” No response after a week. I sent an e-mail yesterday to Performance-PCS hoping to get them to honor their own policy and just refund my money.

Their 3 day refund policy is also absurd, which I knew in advance, but I have been looking for a mini wireless keyboard for months and they were the only ones who carried the keyboard. Awesome selection, but I am definitely unimpressed with their service.

I've never found a quiet one either, but I have 2 high speed ones installed in a carPC and with a fan controller, any fan can be quiet. ;) You could easily run the 2 in the case off a 3 pin fan splitter and a zalman fanmate.
 
So...no one has even tried buying this case from the best case vendor ever? Xoxide? Geez. :rolleyes:
 
You know, I've looked at Xoxide a thousand times and I think the only thing I have ordered from them was my cold cathodes! They're always too expensive... They've got a great site, though.

www.coolerguys.com, www.ewiz.com & www.excaliberpc.com have the windowed/handled one for $110 + S&H.

Hank was still trying to force me to go through X-Gene. I gave him crap about treating his customers badly and had to waive a chargeback at him before he gave in. "I don’t see what the big deal is with sending back to X-gene as you still get your refund???"

Come on - there was a screw in the dead keyboard and I have not heard from X-Gene in a week - seriously how good do you think there support is going to be? Companies can afford to blow a few little guys off, but they would be stupid to ruin their relations with their resellers. He knows...

Hank to X-Gene: "He is already sending it here now. So when it returns I have a few more to send back with his. Thanks anyway."

Did you resolve the situation with X-Gene? I can get in contact with Paul and we should be able to straighten that out pretty quickly...PM me if you still got a problem.

EDIT: I just read the post before this. X-Gene is not a return company and the owner is outta the country anyway...Performance PCs shoulda dealt with this even if they have been getting many complaints. Perhaps they just had a bad day :p

Starting your own store? That's cool.

Dropped the return in the mail on Tuesday, so too early to say whether I will still have problems. Yup, they should have dealt with it. I agree, I got the impression from e-mail #1 that Hank was having a bad day or frustrated with these guys and tried to take it out on me. Totally unprofessional and did not help my situation.
 
I got my LanBoy from NewEgg yesterday. Bought the black one with the handle.

This is replacing my Microfly case that I bought a week before (and am returning to Fry's today). I wanted something a lot more sturdy and with a better handle for carrying and the LanBoy fulfills that requirement for me very nicely. Very solid case.

My big concern was the 2 60mm fans in the back. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet they operated.

A little disappointed that the side panels are not removable. But I guess that is part of making it so sturdy. So it was fun to put everything together then find out one of my SATA cables popped off the drive and I have to disassemble half the case to get down to it.

It cost twice as much as my Microfly case, but I'm much happier now.

ravy those side panels are removable! They have to be! Otherwise you would not be able to secure the CDROM or hard drive. You can see that they're also detached from the frame. Try pulling up.

at best, that 7-incher has a 800x480

hope it's not 480x234

but I highly doubt it's anywhere near 1280x768

I usually hate TTake's stuff but this lanbox seems like a decent unit...
 
That could be good with an XP-120 or that Silverstone cooler (NT-06?)
 
Wow that is stupid retarded! That last picture looks like the sides are all integrated with the frame. I can't believe that! That has to be a worse ease-of-use design than even the ARIA! But I guess it makes sense... those Thermaltake engineers aren't used to making their own products. ;)

Well one salvation for you guys who buy the windowed version is that you might be able to remove those push pins to remove the windows, at least on the initial install. If you were setting up watercooling or installing any kind of Zalman heatsink that would be recommended.

You are correct, the sides of the case are not removable. However, the top of the case is removable. My only complaint would be that the case without windows does not sport a handle on top. I am still in the designing stages of my SFF system, but this case has moved into the top 3.
 
I wish they had a non windowed version with the handle. Also for ppl who have the case, how do you like it? I am eyeing it for my next build. Also only 2 bad reviews on the net out atm.
 
wow I just noticed this case is one of the biggest shoebox style cases around, it doesn't look like it from the pictures. It's even longer than the SG01, which I thought was too long already. Comparison in millimeters:

I have the window version with a handle (handle was a must for me).

Had it a few days now and love it.

It is built well and very solid (bit heavy too), quiet, and looks very nice.

And the 7 inch bays are nice if for some odd reason I decide to buy that 7 inch touchscreen LCD.

I have a Zalman 7700 AlCu installed on my X2-4600. Everything is at stock speeds and the CPU temp idles around 36c and under Prime95 50c. I think my power supply is part of the problem. I have an Antec 550 Neo HE and it sits right over the CPU and doesn't have a bottom fan on it. Combined with the case only have (2) 60mm fans in the back. I'm thinking if I get a PSU that intakes air from the bottom with a 120mm fan and blows it out the back, that might improve that CPU temperature some.

But those 60mm fans are surprisingly quiet.

The unremovable side panels is a bit disappointing. But the drive cage and power supply rack are easily removable from the top.

And it's a bit larger than I expected.

But I'm very happy with it. I believe this case should last a long time and once I get a better PSU, I should be set.

yeah... I always laugh when people say the SG01 is smaller than a Qpack. The LANBOX is a giant, but it also doesnt look like a science project (Q-pack) and is more portable than the SilverStone. I actually carried my Q-Pack by the handle just to prove it could be done, but I d be a lot more confident if it had the LANBOX handle.

It's contagious. One person starts calling it a "Lanboy" and it spreads like a virus to the rest of us. :)
 
If I remember correctly, the Qmicra checks in around $299 (plus options, plus S&H). This is more than "a little expensive" by my standards.
