Thermaltake Tsunami

I was looking at getting the APEX kit and I was wondering if it would fit inside the tsunami case.

i was thinking about putting it on the bottom of the case, since the only card that is in my pc is my graphics card.

would it fit?

if it wouldnt could an alternative be to get 2 1x120 radiators and mount them on the front and the back? would the temperatures be near the same if i bought all the other apex kit components?

I am planning on cooling my 7800gtx and my 3700+ san diego (can run @ 2.85 on air with 1.5 vcore)

The rad will fit on the bottom of the case, but then you'll need to elevate the case a good inch or two to get some good air flow thru the rad.

If you bought all the pieces of the apex kit seperately, it would perform pretty much the same
if the only part you swapped was the rad, for something like a bip2.

i want to get load temps in the 30's C or so..ambient temperature is 65 degrees F

could one 1x120 radiator with a good fan get those temps with a storm or apogee block and a 7800gtx (mcw55 block) in the loop? or would i need the 2x120 radiator

the only thing i would be changing from the apex kit is getting 1 or 2 1x120 rads instead of a 2x120 cuz i don't want to drill holes in my case.

I went from a boneville heater core (2 x 120) to a chevette (1 x 120) so I could fit everything inside my case. Unfortunately, with my athlon xp and 6800 GT in the loop, my temperatures shot up 8C on average. I idled around 36 and loaded around 45 IIRC. I was not pleased.

Here is what I had in the loop:

eheim 1250
d-tek WW
d-tek GPU block
1/2'' ID hose

I scrapped the internal route since the Thermaltake Tsunami is rather cramped inside. I'm in the process of building a nice external box including all of the cooling components, and if you don't mind something external, I suggest you do the same. Your temperatures will be much better since the radiator(s) will be outside of the case completely (you aren't dumping the heat into the case to get pumped out by the case fans).

I had a lot of trouble fitting a bonneville inside my case. I thought about putting it at the bottom, but I didn't want to elevate my case and have a huge hole there. I didn't like the look of it. My case was too short to fit the core in the top 2 drivebays as well. It ran into the PSU.

You can do a single 120 in the front and perhaps another single 120 in the back mounted outside, but I am not sure how well that would work. It would also add a lot of clutter with hosing.

sounds like my best bet is 2 get the apex and either

1. put it in an external box with quick d/c
2. follow the APEX install guide, and mount the radiator on the back of the case


which of these solutions would be better for small lan parties?

or i could go air (last resort), but i think the temps would be a lot worse with an SI-120 and an nv silencer than the water cooled APEX kit + a mcw55 swiftech gpu block

bump..

ok i have been looking around at radiators and i saw the pa160 radiator.

1. will this radiator perform as well as the one in the swiftech kit / a BIP 2
2. will this radiator fit in a tt tsunami case.


its expensive, but seems kick ass as it was designed by people at procooling (read the thread)
