I was wondering if Thermaltake's Silent Purpowers were any good? Are they reliable? Or are these just considered generic?

Here are the list of them:

Thermaltake's PSUs

I was thinking of spending $60 and up on a PSU. I see these advertised a lot in gaming magazines ( I know this means nothing really), was just curious because I'm in the market.

Get an Antec True 430 from the egg. $67.00 plus 4 shipping. Just ordered one for a build I am doing.

Hmm alright. Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, how about this Vantec PSU?

Would this be something to consider or out of the question?

I got my Thermaltake 420W Silent Purepower for $10 with my case.. and it hasnt failed me yet. [knock on wood] Works great and no complaints.

The Thermaltakes and Vantecs are good psu's but Antec True has super tight voltage regulation...meaning very stable rails with very little fluctuation (which leads to bsod's, reboots, damaged hardware, failed overclocks).

In the price category you're considering $60-$80ish Antec True is absolutely the best psu money can buy. This comparison is not written in english but the graphs say it all, Antec True has steller voltage regulation (scroll down about 1/2 way to see) http://terasan.okiraku-pc.net/dengen/tester/index.html

People are recommending Antec and that's fine. Get what you want. And to answer your question, the Thermaltake PSU's are good. I have the black 480w butterfly w/ active PFC and it is a very good PSU.

....I think the Tt's are a very good PSU for the price (sig...). Rails are spot on, under load, and the thermally controlled fans are very nice. Recommended.....

Tts are very well respected and well built. I'd have no qualms recommending them, even though I'm really more of a Fortron guy myself. (Near silent 120mm fan = profit)

I'm running both an Enerxmax 300w and a 520w Vantec Steath and i'm happy with both. Tt PSUs are also great, well if you can stand the xaser theme :p You can't go wrong with any of these in additon to Antec, The FSP Group which includes Fotron, Enlight, and Sparkle, or PC Power and Cooling
