Thermaltake Core X9

I just picked one up from Microcenter the other day
Nearly everything in it can be taken out, massive space (compared to my old HAF-X) making cable management a dream-come-true
So far not bad but this thing is made for watercooling.

That case looks awesome to me. I'm good with my Air 540 case but if I was building today the x9 would be a top contender

I like BIG CASES and I cannot lie...

Honestly, the options that Thermaltake's entire Core X series gives watercooling is just INSANE.
The X9 has enough locations that you could take a dual processor triple/quad-SLI setup and give both CPUs and all the GPUs their own cooling loop heading back to some of the largest radiators on the market and STILL have space where you could mount more radiators!

And that's not even taking into account the stackability feature.

Seriously, I've seen "lesser" cases going for 2-3x the asking price of the Core X series cases.

As I said elsewhere, I think Thermaltake's sold me my next case.

Here's the exterior of my Core X9 housing 3 480 rads and a 5960x

Just bought one and transplanted a system into it.

You can see pics in this thread.

For the most part this case is built with, not just SPACE, but SPAAAAAAACE!!!

The annoying thing is the drive caddy system. The drive cages for 3.5"/2.5" drives is a sideways affair. Instead of having the connectors face one side or another they either face front or back, with only a small gap between the cages.

And you can't pre-cable the sleds before putting them back into the cages. You have to mount the drive(s) on the sleds, slide them into the cages, then remove the cage and cable it up.

Basically, unless your hands are VERY small, you have to do it that way. A little irritating.

Also, the 5.25" trays, the counter-rocker locking mechanism isn't really intuitive. To mount a drive you can usually just slide the drive in and it'll lock in.

To get it out you rock the main mechanism forward, then there's a button you rock BACK to pull the locking tines out. If you don't, you wind up snapping the locking tines off.

All in all, it's a GREAT case. The loudest thing in the case, after startup and the 15,000 rpm SAS drive spinning up, is the video card.

I'm also going to probably pop the front panel off and reverse the power button assembly. I live in a studio apartment and the blue LED indicating power-on is VERY bright, and the way I have it facing at the moment is like a small star through my eyelids when I'm trying to sleep.

The one downside, because the case is as big and as deep as it is, I can no longer mount it on a shelf in the open rack behind my desk. It's now occupying a table I built back in HS that's JUST about the perfect surface area for it.

Chas is correct about the HDD cages. I ditched them for more room and used an old Chieftec 2.5" bracket to mount my 2 ssds and the plastic mount from the HDD cage for my single HDD.

Got 3 480 rads internally mounted!

The external dimensions of the Core X9 with my adding 1" casters to the bottom (A MUST for a water cooled rig) is 15" wide x 20.5" high x 25.25" deep.

I bought my casters directly from Apollo Casters online because they carry the swivel on a single stem casters with 1" x 1" 4 hole metal mounting plates that exactly match to the bottom of the Core X9. Cost me @$18 delivered. TRUST ME it was a bear finding casters to fit without drilling holes in the bottom.

I also bought two white laminated boards from Lowes (4feet long) to roll my case onto since the room is carpeted. MUCH easier to set in place.
